Education and Training
My Beginning
I started my university career at Mount Allison University. I chose this school for several reasons: smaller class sizes, good reputation, and a family connection to the town. I graduated in 2001 with a Bachelor of Science, Honors in Biology.

Moving to the "Big" City
After completing my biology degree at Mount Allison University, I was accepted into the Dalhousie School of Physiotherapy. It was during these three years that I started to develop my professional identity, and transition into practice. I completed my Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy in 2004 and started working in private practice.

Shaping My Career
I transitioned to public practice in 2006 and worked in many settings across the continuum of care. During this time, I completed many continuing professional development courses. Two of these courses (the American Physical Therapy Association Credentialed Clinical Instructor Course and the Foundations in Clinical and Professional Education through the Dalhousie University Health Institute) further shaped my career path.
Fast Forward to 2018
Fast Forward to 2018
Many changes have occurred in the Nova Scotia health care system since 2015, with many more to come. When looking forward to the next decade, we anticipate higher attrition rates - of both our hands-on clinicians and our leaders.
I believe that health care can be improved for our population and that we, as health care professionals, have a duty to build our system for generations to come. I would like to be a leader in this change. I have therefore enrolled in the Master of Health Studies program through Athabasca University as I believe it will better prepare me for my future in health care.
